Hi

My Disco 300 Tdi (1994) has developed a fault with the Central locking / alarm.

I can only open the car from the drivers door via the key (fob doesn't work) and sometimes it will only open the drivers door and not activate the central locking, this in turn then sets off the alarm and attempts to immobilse the car.

This is really frustrating. What is the problem is it the Central locking or the alarm, and how do I fix it, bit of a duffer with electrics, so advice on how much a landrover specialist (not main dealer) would charge to fix the fault would also be useful.

Lastly could the whole lot by pulled out and replaced with something a bit more secure eg Thatcham 1 alarm with a central locking kit fitted by an alarm specialist or is the standard unit very hard to bypass?

Thanks Geoff

Ther std immobiliser is very easy to by-pass, you just need to purchase a spider bypass plug from LR, about £5 I believe and plug it in.

Use the search facill to find more info.
