Anybody know where I can get my alarm inspected to keep my insurance company happy? The disco is a 93 L reg the alaram /immobliser looks like a factory fittment, with one button, if the alarm is triggered the disco wont start. I got a local garge to write a letter that they had inspected the alarm and checked as working. However the insurance company ( directline) have come back and said unless I can confirm make and model of the alarm I am not covered for theft. The other concern I have is that after all this they may say the factory alarm is not suitable and I need to upgrade. A the end of the day its cheap transport for me and I dont want to be paying to have an alarm fitted. So also does anybody know of insurance companies that will accept the standard fitted alarm?

I have not had a problem with More Than accepting the factory fit on my Disco, also my daughter had no problem with her 90 using Admiral. Barry

If you have a factory fitted immobiliser then all insurers should accept you. Asking for proof can be as simple as you making a statement that if your telling lies then you won't get anything when your found out. You can also ask a Landrover dealer to confirm that your vehicle has a factory fitted unit by having a simple ECU reset.
Look at it this way, if DirectLine don't want your business there are plenty of others who do.

They have a list of insurers the favourite being Adrian Flux who like Farmers Union don't make such an issue. Another insurer which was posted recently was Lancaster
Good luck :)

Hi Donboom, it is not I who is experiencing problems with insurance but campervanman. Barry

Hi,

now got a quote with the Post office , £50 less and no hassle with the factory alarm fitted and no proof required other than me saying so, win win!
