no, but leaving the sensors unplugged was a sort of brute force approach (i know i know, with landies, a little brute force is what you need most of the time) ... I have now reconnected the sensors and locking it with the key, rather than the remote when I am somewhere safe and dont need the alarm - it seems to be working well.

Yes, that was the point from the beginning, to lock with the key if you leave the windows open or dogs in the vehicle

The only way to lock with the remote and not have the volumetric alarm is to completely disable it with tester

As u suggested, unplug the sensor.
Or the simples option is masking the send and receive elements at each end of the device as required, which is standard practice in the security industry when testing a particular elements of an installation with detection in that area, pir, active infrared microwave, ultrasonic... etc etc my engineers do it all the time.
