Defender 90 tdci alarm question

Hi folks

I am the proud new owner of a rather lovely 2007 Defender 90 tdci.

I was getting some gear ready to go hiking on Saturday and had the tailgate door open while faffing around, as you do. After a couple of minutes the central locking 'locked' itself, and then a couple of minutes after that the alarm started wailing. I stopped it by clicking the unlock button on the fob.

I am guessing this is a security feature designed to alert you if you accidentally leave the door open, but it's quite annoying as I will frequently want to leave the back door open to load and unload stuff, and I am not a complete moron who is going to accidentally leave the massive rear door to his new pride and joy wide open ready for some oik to come along and nick it.

Is there a way I can turn this feature off?

Thanks!

I have the same vehicle and that does not happen with mine. Is it possible the door light switch is not operating? Does the interior light come on when you only open the back door?

Pretty sure the lights work fine.

I’ve had a tracker fitted, could it be this has activated some additional “safety” measures somehow?

Are you sure your not accidentally hitting the lock button on the fob, easy done if the keys are in your pocket.

No.

I’ve had a tracker fitted,
Assuming it has been connected to a permanent live. If it has been connected into one of the alarm circuits, it might have upset the alarm system somehow? All these systems are controlled by an ECU.
