hello my first post so please be gentle,
I have a defender 90 TD5 2003 and its started to sound the alarm once a day, i unplugged the sensor in the cab thought that would do as it went 2 days but sounded again, always at night bloody annoying and when i get to it i find its unlocked. it has central locking with remote, any ideas?

My first thought would be to get a disklok on it. My second thought would be to make sure it isn't some fecker practising breaking into your landy. My third thought would be to check for water ingress into the fuse boxes. My fourth thought would be to check for trapped or chaffed wires.

Thanks, its inside a locked steel building and no signs of break in, but will check for damaged wires cheers

I'd check the central locking actuators. Clean and grease the linkages and check the electrical connectors as it sounds like you may have a door that is not locking fully.

If its in a locked building then its likely not the scrotes deliberately setting it off until you stop setting the alarm one night and it disappears.

What state is your battery?

If it's on its way out and losing charge then this can fool the alarm system into thinking someone has opened a door because of the voltage drop. So why at night? A battery's voltage drops slightky when it's colder and perhaps enough on this occasion to trigger the alarm.
