Hi again everyone just a quick 1 last year i had the air con regassed it lasted about 2 week.Ive just checked the condersor and it looks ok no sign of any cracks or leaks, but the hoses coming out of the pump are very sticky just past the metal collars could it be the pipes leaking any help appreciated
Cheers Alan

If you have dye or oil coming out anywhere then it would have been accompanied by the gas! It's usually the condensor but there have been reports of pipes failing in various places.

The main cause of pressure loss over time in aircon systems, is gas leaking through perished rubber pipes or O rings.

its actually the EEC regs for a New system.

"Member States shall no longer grant EC type-approval or national type-approval for a type of vehicle fitted with an air conditioning system designed to contain fluorinated greenhouse gases with a global warming potential higher than 150, unless the rate of leakage from that system does not exceed 40 grams of fluorinated greenhouse gases per year for a single evaporator system, or 60 grams of fluorinated greenhouse gases per year for a dual evaporator system."

I have had 4 Jap vehicles with aircon, 3 from new, ranging in age at disposal from 7 years up to about 10 years, unlike the the P38, none of them showed any appreciable loss of aircon performance in their life:)

Better pipework maybe. Air con gas is known to leak through rubber pipes.

Ok this is not Brit bashing or Yank bragging Just a question about the Land Rover car being a luxury car, of high quality. But all I see on here are air conditioning , air suspension , and electric problems of various nature. Why a car costing as much as it does not last longer? The Ford and Gm cars( dodge and jeep are rust buckets and suck)costing less do not have the problems you have. Our pickups and suv last for ever Air suspension on my suv went 150,000 miles before a height sensor went bad ,air conditioning never fails My truck 300,000 gas still makes ice cubes.

What's up with your cars and quality?

Now you know why the indeginous British car, truck and motorbike industies have all collapsed over the years. Only foreign owned plants produce anything of quality.
The bean counters in the UK manufacturing industry all take a short term view and will buy and fit crap components if it saves tuppence on the manufacturing cost. They forget that a reputation for reliability is hard won and easy lost and a bad reputation cost sales so the cheap option costs more in the long term:mad:
