Hi I’m new to the group ,
I have suspension fault on dash and amber warning , front seems low and back high , no special programmes work , no obvious compresser fault seen , on start up I hear it for about 15 secs then stops and lets out small hiss of air , as if it’s full and working correct ? I checked the front valve with soapy water can’t see any bubbles etc ? Anyone able to offer advice thanks . Andy

Hi yea thanks for reply trying to sort that is there anybody in Kent near ashford who could help ? Was hoping for some common experiences or simple checks but learning fast these cars are difficult lol

First I would ask have you fallen in love with it yet? (is it a keeper).

If the answer is yes even a maybe;) then to buy your own diagnostic's is the way to go.

As the doc posted by SF you can see the many causes of a single message, throwing money at every suspect can get expensive to find out its a corroded connection:eek:.

But dont fret its all fixable :).

Oh Welcome:).

@gstuart may have some gems to help:).

hi

plus 1 what’s been suggested so far plus the fantastic offer from @lynall with regards to getting it plugged in

In the mean time try measuring the suspension to see how much it’s out , in normal ride height in MM measure from the centre of the wheels to the bottom of the wheel arch liners , front should be 466mm rears 485mm

u can also check to see if u have any leaks , raise suspension to normal ride height , check measurements , then pull fuse F26 from the engines fuse box, leave over night and recheck measurements, then reinstall fuse , being very careful as when u refit the fuse the landy will drop very quickly , once u start the engine will raise back up

u can buy a cheap scanner called an Autel AP200 in white , there only around £60 , indeed due to the complexity of these vehicles having one is a must or u will get known were fast in trying to identify faults

if I may add these vehicles can’t be maintained on a shoe string and errors must not be ignored , there awesome motors but really need to keep on top of things

also done a buyers guide in what to look out for

hope that helps

ps , as a side note , in the Uk these are called discovery 3’s , the LR3 is what there called in the USA

Thanks for all your help , sent Lynall a message what a great bunch of people here , I will be investing in the scan tool didn’t realise could get one for that price thought I’d need something in the hundreds , and yea I realise these cost a bit to keep going but life’s got a way of sending us challenges at the worst times but I’m keen to learn about these motors to keep on top

Would the scanner you mention do suspension and most other issues with discovery 3 ?

Hi all , had someone plug in today , and there’s me thinking it just tells you the problem lol , long story short and he was vague , it said about air pressure , and he said the gallery psi was only going to about 80 psi then down and back up to 80 , never higher then after 15/20 secs would throw the warning light and compresser shut off with a sharp short hiss of air not sure if the air sound should do that but that’s when it shuts off and light comes on ?

Did your friendly code reader give any code numbers. With description?
It does sound like a worn out compressor, but;).
The hiss is normal as it vents the gallery when the compressor switch’s off, even when it’s running right:).

No I didn’t get any codes myself ,he said nothing actually pinpointed exactly, but other Then compressor low nothing else seemed abnormal , only issues he found was heading towards compressor and hearing the hiss I thought great but am now doubting again lol if that’s normal

Fitted new compressor today , all now works as should big thank you to all that helped in discussion and @lynall for offering to read codes ,

do have now an engine management light p045c something egr valve , I thought coincidentally but maybe a separate issue il raise a new post .
