Lots of things can cause that, low battery volts is one another is water in the electronics in the LH rear quarter of the boot and water in the spare wheel well. It will most likelt need to go on diagnostics but LR stuff of that year is not compatible with standard OBD diagnostics.

thanks for your replies i have spoken to the garage who are doing the repairs and they have assured me that it is the airbag as it was going up and down on there diagnostic macine and the bag had a slight leak. i will keep you posted as its going in on tuesday.
