hi all anyone know if there should be a hole in the right hand side of the air filter housing was changing fuel filter and after starting and checking for leaks i could fill air blowing on my hand when i looked down i could see a hole about 6 - 7 mm many thanks dawn its a td4 02 and when i say right hand side i mean when looking towards the engine

Pretty sure it's meant to be there. I seem to remember this cropping up before and other people saying, "Yes, there is one". Can't say I've ever spotted it on mine, but I'll make a point of looking come service time.

ok thanks tryed to look on here but can not find anythink cant se what it ment to do seems to blow air out

yep think it should be there, its a drain for any water that might get in the air box, should be checked that its not blocked when changing the air filter. regards tim.

The hole is to attach the clip that you have missing!

The clip is to hold the hose that runs past there steady and stop it rubbing against the filter housing.

The clip may not be missing as it may still be clipped on the hose and just need pushing back in the hole.

If it's not there stick a piece of tape over the hole.

Yes, this has been asked before - can't understand why you couldn't find it.

ah ok sorry i will look in the light tomorrow might find it then maybe i have pulled the pipe off while messing around

ok just been and looked no clip the only pipr i can see that runs near there is a braided hoses

I've just been outside to check too - it's a hard frost tonight, and too dark to take a pic - Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Its one of the heater hoses - not the one with the bleed screw - the other one that passes close to the air-filter cover and comes round the back corner at 90 degrees. The clip holds it to the filter cover. Mine is a 2004 but that should make no difference as I'm sure the heater hoses are routed the same way.

I'll put a pic on tomorrow.

Singvogel.

ok been out had alook and heater hose runs know where near it the only hose that looks klike it could be clipped to the hole is a braid hose that run s up under the acostic cover

Good morning,

Everything white this morning up here - half-way to the North Pole - it feels like.

Here is the promised photo of the mystery clip, which I think is the reason for the hole in the air-filter cover. I had a look at the size of the hole and I estimate it to be about 6mm.

I had a problem a while back in that the clip kept on popping out of the hole so fixed it with a touch of Super-Glue.

Is this where the hole is on your cover?

Singvogel.

I've got a hole in my filter housing, a 56 plate TD4. No pipes anywhere near unlike Sinvogel's,also no air leaking from hole, probably blocked by the non open end of the filter.

intresting this one,i like cremator have a td4 commercial looks nothing like singvogels set up,thought it might be a commercial thing, but as springer says dont think thats the case.like to know what all the pipework does on yours though singvogel? mine as others i suspect, only has the coolant pipe to the side of air filter, with the bleed screw on it which turns at90 degrees downwards. tim.
