Hi guys. When I bought the car aircon didn't work. Took it to garage and had system re gassed great icy cold aircon.
During the hot weather used it wonderful. Today the wife used the car and the aircon failed to blow cold
The switch lit up when pressed and the internal fan speed ramped up. But Luke warm air only.
2 questions.
First.
When the garage filled up the system they noted the high and low pipes you connect the regassing pipes to had the end caps missing. I appreciate there is a one way valve in each pipe. But could gas have leaked from here without caps or are they just dust caps.

Second
When she turned aircon on I asked her to check aircon fan behind grille and she said it was stationery is that correct when car at idle. ?

Look forward to your thoughts

My caps are also missing but the air con works fine

The fan won't spin until the engine reaches the required temperature

Sounds like you have a leak in the air con system

When they fill up the refrigerant, they usually include a dye to show up any leaks in the system.

I got mine re-gassed the other month, and after a few days I could clearly see green dye around the compressor clutch. I changed the compressor and it's cured the leak. I had to get it refilled again though!

Have a look around your engine bay and follow the refrigerant pipes looking for green or blue dye stains. If you can see any then it suggests you have a leak, and where it is will suggest what component need changing. You might need a UV light to see the dye stains (if there are any), where you got it filled up will have one.

I didn't with mine though, it was leaking so badly!

If you can't see any stains, even with a UV light, then it's probably an electrical problem rather than a refrigerant problem.

I have a P38, and the aircon fans behind the grill hardly ever come on. Being at the front of the car, the airflow when moving does a great cooling job, and the fan for the engine keeps air moving most of the time so the aircon fans are hardly needed. It might not be the same on your car though...
