I have discovered that the air con clutch has worked loose on my 03 TD5 (I hound it near the bottom of the radiator but no bolt) I don't know whether to take the air con out altogether or bite the bullet and buy a new compressor. Is there a cheaper option please? Any help appreciated

my aircon says its working but is not, i did the self test using the buttons on the heater and it says aircon running fine, but when i look at the aircon compressor once ive turned it on it looks the same ie the pulley does not seem to turn the clutch on ,is this fixable?

the self diagnostic doesnt cover the refrigerant system nor the gas level, it's mostly for the air distriburion system , first of all make sure it has enough gas pressure otherwise the dual pressure switch will not let the clutch to engage

Start the engine and lift the bonnet, turn the aircon onto maximum cold and maximum fan blower speed. The air from the vents should be almost freezing cold within a minute or so.
Simples, so what's the problem?

Mines blowing out 8c to 10c now, but it is 17 years old and never had a regas.:)

Jumping in here as I have a similar problem. I had my gas refilled. The aircon worked for a while but now only blows hot air. I had the system checked and there are no leaks. So any ideas? I have a disco 2 td5

Unfortunately the self diagnostic doesnt cover the refrigerant system's components involved in clutch management at all only the in car temp sensor and if it's gone the system goes to default mode of 25*C which IMO is not "hot air"

I took it to a garage that just does aircon. A local landrover deal also uses them. They tested the system and said no leaks. Where is the compressor and clutch? ?
