Just had my airbags replaced and after only a short drive home I can honestly say that the car has been completely transformed. The ride in particular is much more forgiving, no harsh ride over potholes, but the most noticeable thing is how changing the bags has eliminated quite a few niggles.

Gone is a slight vibration from the rear axle on overrun, the car is (obviously) much more stable through the corners as it maintains ride height and the steering is markedly more precise.

The moral is clear chaps - check your bags frequently:5bhurray:

Agree with your comments.
I had a groaning noise when raising and lowering the suspension, new bags all round and it's gone. Mine is a 1999 4.6 HSE and the air bags were the originals, (Land Rover moulded into them) well worn and perished.
Proper maintenance of theses cars makes all the difference.

What bags did you fit? OEM, Pattern, Arnott Gen II, III? Ta

Bought a pair of Dunlops on Fleabay from Island 4x4 for £120 plus new clips at £5 or so.

Just goes to show that even the simple things can cause so many underlying problems. Oh, and I didn't fit them, I won't go into all that again but a very nice indie in Okehampton (James tennant) stuck them on for £50 in under 1.5 hours !!!

Sounds like good value.

Hi Guys.

I have recently put new Arnott Gen 11 on all around and a new compressor.
The car is really really super. Fab ride, control, quite. Wow.....
The bags and compressor that came off were probably the original LR (compressor was dated 1995) and my car was built in 1995!!

Super....
