hi there folks im 99% sure that mt rear airbags are on there way out, sagging back end and a hissing sound,my questions are,

1,could i change them on my own?or do they need to be recalibrated in with the suspension settings?

2,anyone advise on good replacements?ive been looking on ebay and can get 2 genuine dunlop ones for £115 or should i go for the generation 2 ones which are clamped the rubber on to form a better seal for £150 a pair?

3,if i need to have it all calibrated is it better taking it to a good garage that deals in 4x4s or is it worth buying the reseting and fault finding kit myself off ebay that allows yopu to remove and reset all faults?

4,if anyone had any advise or has bought either aitr bads or the resetting kit please let me know asap.

many thanks gav

1.
Yes, you can change them yourself...loads of useful info. on the forum. No, you should not need calibration, it's the sensors which determine the heights not the springs.
2.
The original Dunlop are fine, I have not heard of an air spring blowing off the end caps, only way it can part company is if it travels far in excess of the allowed height. A lot of people on here swear by Arnott but my feelings are that the Dunlop were fitted as original and have been okay for years.
3.
The EAS software and lead is fine for what you want.
Always change the air springs in pairs at least, e.g. fronts or rears, but pays to change all four and buy a set of new spring clips as well.

thats great mate thanks, will the sensors need replacing or adjusting?yes was going to put a pair on the rear anyway new ones, may seem thick but what are the spring clips please?

They are the wire thingies that hold the spring end caps in place on the car. Cost about a tenner a full set from Island 4x4. Good chance...99.999999999% that the ones on the rear springs are as rotten as a pear. Have a look on RAVE or Range Rovers for more info. on replacement procedures also.

Just done the rear's on mine. I was lucky as they were plastic and the pins came out easily m2.5 hours for the 2. No re-calibration neccessary.

I went for Arnott gen2 as I read good reports on the US site. If you are replacing the rears, replace the fronts at the same time because as sure a s hell they will be shot too. I got a complete set on Ebay from P38 spares for £269. Off to do the fronts this morning:D:D:D I will post photo's when I've finished.

Why pay a stealer  when, if you are prepared to get your hands dirty and have a reasonable amount sense you can DIY?

I've got the Storey Wilson (www.rswsolutions.com) free software in case I needed a re-calibrate
