Aftermarket Viscous Fans

I bought a Viscous Fan to replace the one that shattered on my P38. Initially, I was sold an aftermarket one by Paddock Spares at £69 +VAT. Within the hour the salesman was on the phone to say although they had 2 on the shelf they had stopped selling them because of the failure rate. Even their supplier, who had stock on the shelf, had stopped selling them. I did get a good deal on the OEM one however.

How were they branded (britpart, allmakes,...)?

The one I fitted and subsequently shattered was Britpart (I think) The new one I bought is OEM but no maker on the box. I have just checked on the fan itself and all I can find is OEM on the box and BWCS on the fan. Island 4x4 and paddock are only selling OEM V/S assys not aftermarket. I was advised not to buy a cheap one even if I could find one. The difference is approx £50.
