Right! Thats it!, i've had enough so i'm off on a long trip.
Caught the fever and i want to go, so the hunt is on for a suitable landie and equipment (dont think my 90 is quite suitable)
Planning on later 2008, so new year in South Africa.
Might have a spare seat if someone wants to help pay for stuff along the way :)

Always fancied driving from UK to Cape Town (and back obviously) as a major expedition . .
Just been watching the Long Way Round and Long Way Down (yet again) . .

Definitely got the bug to do SOMETHING now ?????

I've been looking at hard top 110's, they seem to be the best, is going to cost quite a bit for kitting it out though, but don't think you can skimp on the important stuff like fuel, water and electrical systems.

me and my girlfriend might be doing this trip setting off in sepetember 2008 to go to cape town and back. We were planning on going to india but gave it amiss as there are to many complications at the moment.

io have worked for several overland companys for the last 8 years not only running the trips but building that trucks!

Ah, i see, have asked you that question in another thread.
I am an agricultural engineer and have worked all over central asia and former soviet union using 4x4's and other stuff so building the truck should be no problem, just deciding what to do to it.

nothing wrong with a 90 - I'm building an expedition 90 - fine space for two and it makes you think about what you're bringing (so you don't end up bringing everything and only using 10% of it)

Still got space for twin tanks, 2 jerry cans on tailgate, 2 spare wheels, tools and all my kit and don't even need a roofrack!

Its time to upgrade anyway, i am starting to need a couple of seats in the back, so i will put some removable ones in for the odd occasion i need them and a load of gear.
