A friend of mine got an exchange box, which he really wasnt that happy with at all (i cant recall the details, but the long and the short was that it hadnt been opened up at all!)

Anyhow, ive been casually looking for a LHD box for a while, but have just acquired a RHD breaker disco.

Im wondering if any of the rebuild places are -

a) any good
b) sensible money
and
c) would take my RHD box in for exchange on a LHD box (i suspect ill just have to ask them this)

Really i guess im just wondering on opinions, or recommendations?

ps.

I think, although am not 100% sure, that the london taxis use the adwest 4bolt but in opposit configuration (ie what would be a LHD box on a disco becomes a RHD on a cab)

Eg -

box in pic would be lhd if drop arm was facing 180 degrees round, looks the same as lr ,but i dont know if they are the same , a new lhd box (qaf500120) are about 350 plus vat, drop arms are handed too

If you find out that a taxi box would do for you then contact Taxi Parts Warehouse on 0121 773 2222. I have had several rebuilt boxes from them for around £160 exchange. No problems and they do next day delivery.

I asked an eBay seller of the London cab pas units for part numbers, and this is what they told me -

1 x has 1 number on it BE2651105LH
1 x has 2 numbers on BE5911102 & BS27042012

Does any of that make any sense to any of you?

Sorry no the numbers mean nothing to me but surely a Land Rover main dealer should be able to compare them with what they have for a Landy. Taxi Parts might even know if the taxi box can be used.
