Advise please, Discovery or Freelander

Hi, I'm new to the land rover scene, had fronteras in the past about 5 of them!!
Anyway I'm looking the get either a Discovery or Freelander, the ones I have seen are a 02 plate disco ES model, Td5, and the freelander is a Td4, and is a Se on a 03 plate, I am really stuck on which one to go for! What's both engines like? Mpg? Reliability? Etc any suffer with problems?

Any advise as I stuck on which way to go!

What are you wanting to use it for?

Td4's are the best of the freelanders and are quite a bit (prob 10-15mpg)more economical than a TD5 disco but the disco would be better for towing.
 
I need it as a family car/ van for my shooting and mountain bikes, plus I like to do a bit of light off roading
 
l-series is the best freelander engine but these are getting a bit long in the tooth now, if you get a td4 it will keep you busy modding it but you will get results.

the disco does what it says on the tin straight out of the box ;)
