I have today seen what a hideous job they have done to it. Its been painted with a brush with bright frog green gloss. It peels off quite easily and a lot of it is thick and ripply/even wet under the paint skin. I believe it is going to be written off. There is no other visible damage although I don't know what happened to it in its 250 miles in the last 2 weeks.
I am not sure whether to just take what the insurance offers and find another at more cost, tryand buy it back and sort it myself,(If they will let me) not knowing the mechanical condition....or any other options
I can't just go and collect it as it has a flat tyre, ripped out ignition, no number plates etc and its 75 miles away. This may not sound much but I also don't fancy driving it down the motorway without knowing what mechanical state its in (I am a girl btw). I could possibly borrow another landy and hire a trailer to get it back. It is currently in a Police pound amassing storage charges and my insurance co are going to recover it to a local garage for assessment (and a good laugh no doubt).
It looks a lot worse in real life and the number 88 in the rear window isn't mine.
Here are some pics, what do you all think??

Why would they write this off?? I'd get in touch with your insurance company and get a def answer and their reasons...if you were pleased with the landy b4 i'd consider buying back if possible...it looks like u can get that paint off easily and a nice respray...loads of people here will be happy to help i'm sure...

it could be written off cos the cost of a respray, i claimed on a scratch that went from bumper to bumper and they wrote it off cos they wanted over 2 grand to respray it and mota was worth £1600 so they said

I'd see how much the insurance company offer you and then take it from there.

As long as yer claiming on the insurance don't worry about the storage charges accumilating. The insurance company will pay them aswell as the recovery fee.

what did it look like befor ?? any pics.. in the landrover owners mag this month they show u how to hand paint by a roller,

if it's an option i'd want it back because i doubt you'll be able to get another for the price the insurers will give you.
250 miles in 2 weeks isn't a lot, i do near 100 a week in mine just pootling about:eek:

Nothing much you can do yet until insco are ready ... but it's worth writing to them asking for the options, Full repair and respray to former glory, write-off and payout, write-off, payout and buyback, whatever .. only when you know what you'll get for it off them can you make an informed decision.

Surely a session with a bottle of T-cut would have that green stuff off in no time?

Slightly tedious job, perhaps, but very cheap and something you could do yourself.

I'd be very surprised if it really needed a respray. Unfortunately I suppose it depends what the assessor thinks.

i dont think T-cut would work on this cos the paint is a soggy mess,it would just spread the paint about.a hot pressure wash is still the best option i think.

If you could fancy it in NATO green and can get it to Selby me and my mate will strip off the Dulux and spray it for you for £300 all in. I say NATO green 'cos we've just done mine and it turned out good.
