Just a few bits of advice please.

I want to get under my Disco 1 200tdi and get some underseal on it before the winter (its new to me) Should I wire brush everything in sight before paint on the stuff?

Basically the sills have been done cos they have been renewed - Im talking about the chassis etc which does seem sound but a bit rusty, some flakes nothing that seems terminal.

Second should the disco have remote central locking - ive looked and cant find the sender unit - I havent got a blip just use the keys.

I have a 300TDI so I don't know about the alarm/immobiliser key fob differences for a 200TDI.

Stone chip is a more modern, better paint than the traditional underseal. The more loose rust and dirt you can get off, the better the paint will stick to the chassis and the longer it will last.

You won't have a sender unit but an alarm/central locking control unit positioned behind the glove box. If it's still fitted then ans wish to have remote control then you will require a single button on fob which is fortunatly user programmable to the control unit unlike the later 300 series disco's..

you need to get the right frequency key fob :) if you fined the control unit it should have the frequency on it (mine didn't :()

Cant remember which model year the D1 got fitted with remote locking/alarm as standard - the early ones had it as an option. It wernt tooo reliable on the early cars so it might be better not to bother.....
In terms of the rust, anything you can do is a bonus, dont forget to inject inside the chassis and the box sections of the sills/door pillars etc.
Keep it going as long as you can,its going to be simpler/cheaper than any modern D3 and lose less money.
