I have a 1990 discovery eng' and gearbox to go into my series 3 swb. And am looking for a supplier of the kit to allow the center fiff' to be altered to disingage the front wheel drive when in the difflock free position. I have fwh fitted.

As I understand it - the fwd system on discos and deepender has summat to do with the props, as yu will need new props anyway to fit the disco box, why not fit modified disco props to resolve the problem?

isn't there also a problem with the front axle?

summin about the series having uj's and the AWD disco's having CV's in em. if i remember correctly the uj's don't like to be driven all the time.

i was told it was the props - but my disco props have uj's in em.

thinkin about it - the front axles and props are driven all the time - both on series and the disco/deependers - coz they are being turned by the road wheels - its only the gearbox linkage that locks or not the front and back - gorra be.

confused of bstoke;)

Hate to be an advocate of this coz it's normally like the yellow pages, but LRO has an ongoing feature of how to put a disco tdi in a S111. Also this months has a whole section on servicing your axles, UJ's on series, CV's, what they look like, what to look for etc - all far to general and tryiong to all-encompass but might be worth a look?

yer series in 2wd the parts are turning but as they int connected to the g/box there is no strain/ force on em.

however once they are connected to the g/box things is different
when your going in a straight line there shouldn't be a problem but when you turn, the uj's will be working at angles similar to yer prop uj's with a lift kit fitted. so will wear out quicker

As I understand you need a disco/rangey or deepender fornt axle cos of the u/j's will fuk up quickly if ran in 4wd full time :D

Dont the brakes need uprating if ya stick a disco engine in??
70 odd bhp against 110 odd bhp.
