Hi I am fixing up a freelander 2002 td4 Manuel
And ended up with 2 x freelanders for
Spares the first one is a td4 facelift auto the crank shaft snapped so the engine is knackered and the other is a S REG L diesel with a immobiliser problem
My question is what parts are worth trying to sell and what is scrap as my yard is not very big so will have to get rid of them soonish is it worth stripping the auto box out or is it more hassle than it is worth thanks for your time

Anything that's facelift is worth money, as many people want to facelift, pre-facelift Freelander's. Take all the facelift components to sell them on. Also FL1 common failure parts like the IRD, VCU and rear diff. There's also a small market for the L series diesel engine and gearbox. The auto box from the facelift also has a value. ;)

I have taken most of the interior out the auto
And fitted it to my freelander also alternator all the electric windows and lots of other small bits and bobs but I know the auto box is good and the prop etc so I will do as you advise and try and sell them thanks again

Sell the other 2 and use the money to fix up the L Series car.

Its the only option that makes sense.

If its only an immobiliser problem, seems like a small problem to let the best one die ;)

Hi grumpygel I know nothing about the l series is it a good type of engine is it more basic easy to fix less complicated? but to be honest I only know about the td4 because I have been driving it for a year so you have to learn a bit then the information from this site and kind members

It is noisey, smokey and slow! Its also very simple (no common rail, no lift pumps, simple electronics), reliable, long lasting and economical.
Hi nodge where are you located

Hi that’s interesting i have a transit mk5 2.5 di non turbo that we are restoring for that very reason very simple like me if I get Time will try and get the l series started imob problem so will post results thanks again for your time

I keep thinking that I should get a spare auto box. I'm waiting for one come up locally at the right price.

The TD4 injectors are probably worth a few quid too. ;)
Hi nodge your quiet far away from me
But I will give you a shout when I am taking the td4 to bits if you want the box It will be very very cheap as I don’t need it and £200 for both freelanders also putting it on a pallet is not a problem

Hi I will message you when I have striped
The freelander down I cannot sell anything
Yet as I am a new member but when I can I will list it the for sale section as this post was just asking for advice about what is worth stripping thanks

If you are that cheap for the autobox, how much would you want for the rear subframe off one? I've saved an Y red TD4 manual that has a rotten back subframe - I was going to plate up the subframe, but if you arent that expensive I'll happily buy your one. Also I dont need need them, but I'd like the back lights off the pre facelift one, I'm going to mod a set. And final thing, a boot carpet - the one in my 2002 is oily and blegh!
