advice needed please

2001 freelander. all our brake lights have decided they don't want to work. have tried and tested all bulbs and fuses but we can't find the sensor switch near the brake pedal. the haynes book of lies isn't very clear as to where it is located. at the moment we are driving with side lights on and hitting the fog light switch when we are braking. please advise...should we take it to the garage or can it be fixed easily.?

Often an easy fix if you have a basic knowledge.


Just re- read your post the switch is on the pedal support and the pedal pushes against it when in the rest position
