Right, today I have changed my disco 1 brake disks and was trying to fit new brake pads but I've come a cropper in the form of a seized piston on the near side rear wheel. I have absolutely no knowledge with brakes and am working from a Haynes manual which are great but they assume everything goes to plan and don't offer any solutions to possible problems. So question is what is my best option? Can someone with my experience repair this fault and if so can I re-use the old piston or should I just order a new one from paddocks? How long does the job take as I'm really pushed for time and am considering getting In a mobile mechanic if its the better option. Or should I just order a new caliper which I could fit? Thanks in advance

On paddocks they're 46 +vat each so I will try to avoid paying over a ton at the moment if I can, I've spent a fortune on bits for it recently :( I could try one old caliper from a local scrappy as long as the pistons are free. Would it be ok to only fit one in that situation James?

couldnt tell you to do that one side would have more braking effort ,wont piston free off with larger bar, what part number did you price

Rtc 5890 is the paddocks part no. £46.50 +vat. I will try more to free it but a couple of the others were stuck and I've managed to loosen them with a big pair of grips but this one just wont have it the little ****e

if its 95 300 disco you need stc1264 (smc500110) rh and stc1265 (smc500240)lh britpart do them for £30 ,rtcnumbersa are earlier imperial hex headed blot fastening stc bihex metric

Oh right, 30 notes each ain't too bad. I'll do a search for them in a min. Quick question first please mate, can I clamp the braided hose before the tee piece so I won't lose brake fluid or can you only do that with rubber hoses?
