"Adjusting the bulkhead"

Just bought myself an old series 3, to have some dirty fun, I can put up with all the little qurks that it has, and no doubt grow to love them, but the one thing that I can't put up with is the lack of legroom!
I'm not particularly tall, but do drive "straight-legged" so to speak. Driving the Landy is a problem for me, I need to move the seat backwards some.
I mentioned this to another petrolhead at work, and he says that there is a "Mod" for cutting and shutting the bulkhead behind the drivers seat to allow the seat to move back, he thinks that he saw it in an old Landrover mag.
I need to get hold of the distructions to do this, can someone point me to an article on how to do it, please?? I need to go playing in it ASAP.

I find I need to sit more upright when driving off road anyway. You need to see the ground as close as possible to the front of the vehicle, so the higher your eyes are the better.
