Disco 1999 4.0l V8 - ACE problem - A leak occured in the rubber section of the high pressure pipe that runs from the pump down to the valve block. I have now replaced this pipe with a completely new one but my problem now, I think, is bleeding the system? I made sure the pump was full of fluid and with the engine running I checked that there was fluid at the valve block by slightly loosening the filter cap and the same for the actuators by loosening and retightening the pipe connectors. The fluid appears to be pumping through the filler reservior OK. I then took the car for a test ride and experienced a quite loud ratttling/knocking noise each time I turn the steering wheel (left or right), I think the noise might be coming from the valve block but I can't be sure as it only occurs when the car is in motion? There is no noise whilst driving in a straight line. Several forums I've read suggest the system will self bleed but after driving a mile or so there doesn't appear to be any better. I'm loathed to continue driving with this noise. Can anyone suggest what might be the problem and how I might correct it myself? Thanks Bill.
