have a w reg p38 4.6 , traction and abs light are on all the all the time ,
any ideas what could be causing it? could it be the abs sensors?

also if it is the abs sensors and I change them and it fixes the fault ,

will the the fault go of the dash on its own , or will i have to get it removed or is there any fault reader I can buy myself to erase the codes ,

thanks

Could be a sensor or the ECU. Needs diagnostics Nanocom, Faultmate, etc.

Are your brake lights working? my dad had a fault on his 2000 DHSE came up on dash with ABS and traction fault and then he noticed he had no brake lights...a little search found the switch to the brake peddle was at fault! changed that and everything went back to normal..

thanks for reply's ,

brake lights are working ,

so if i buy a fault mate i can read/erase codes myself ,

been looking on this site , what one do I need ?

cheers

Nanocom Evo is good for DIY, not locked to one VIN so you can help others, you just need the one for your engine type, GEMS or THOR for the V8 or EDC for the diesel.
Faultmate is the Dogs but VIN locked to one vehicle and needs a laptop for full use. Don't confuse the Faultmate Nano with the Nanocom Evo, they are not the same.
With either device, you can read and clear faults, cycle door locks and windows, look at live data from the engine etc calibrate the EAS, in fact they cover everything to a professional level.
You are looking in the right place.:)

thanks for reply , so if i buy the Faultmate FCR - Range Rover P38 1995-2001
Price: EUR €228.74 (excl. VAT)
EUR €269.91 (incl. VAT)

this should be all i need to read the clear the abs fault ?

also if i was to get fault code read , fix the problem , would i then need to go back to garage and have fault cleared or would it learn/do this itself ,

cheers

The FCR will be able to clear any logged codes providing the problem has indeed been rectified.

The Nanocom is much better.:)

Maybe I should go for the nanocom then , but really I only want to clear and read faults,

Also could this abs / traction light be caused by faulty accumulator,

As pump comes on after every 1 to 2 pumps of pedal and if left for a few days runs for the about 1 minute to pressurise ?

Cheers

Duff accumulator, time to change it.

Up to 40 seconds is normal after being left a few days. 1 or 2 brake applications means the accumulator is getting tired. That in itself should not put the lights on. You need faults read. Could be a few things.
