Recently moved from a 300 tdi to a 2001 TD5 Disco2

Earlier today, after starting on a hill, my abs light came on, as well as TC and the hill descent icon.

Switched off a few times, the abs light does not go out when switching on, the other 2 do, but then come on again after about a second.

This happens on start up and if just switching on but not starting.

Have seen a few mentions of ' the three amigos' and wonder that these may be the very amigos of which members speak?

Any ideas, clues or check protocols would be appreciated

cheers

there called the three amigoes because all 3 run off the same abs system so a failure effects all 3 ,best et is to get faults read ,cleared and read again ,most likely sign of worn wheel bearing as any movement in bearing effects sensor gap and shows up as sensor fault ,there are other faults but get codes read and go from there

Thanks James appreciate that.

As a side issue, any advice for a generic type fault code reader?

See them on fleabay starting at a tenner, alleged Landrover ones around £50

Seems it might be a wise investment!!

see this http://www.landroverclubvi.com/uploads/2/3/9/8/2398536/troubleshooting_abs-hdc-tc_warning_lamp.pdf

orderd one today off amazon for £16 cheaper than going to a main stealer

 i hope u have some other OBDII compliant car to use it otherwise it's wasted money... D2 is not OBDII compliant so the generic readers will give you false readings or not comunicate at all

Sounds exactly what I was getting recently. Had the codes read by my friends Snapon Solus reader and it was showing that the rear left hand ABS sensor was intermittant / not reading correctly.

I agree with everyone else, you NEED a proper code reader that is compatible with your Landrover, a normal OBD2 one just will NOT read all the codes and will stand no chance of clearing them. If I didn't have a friend with the right box for the job I wouldn't have a Landrover:D
