Hi Peeps
I have the following readout for ABS : would I be right in assuming that it looks like an earth problem ? If so where ? Suggestions gratefully received.

THE FAULTS STORED IN THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING CONTROL UNIT'S FAULT CODE MEMORY ARE -:
FRONT LEFT WHEEL SENSOR OPEN CIRCUIT.

SHORT TO BATTERY ON FRONT RIGHT INLET VALVE.

SHORT TO BATTERY ON FRONT RIGHT OUTLET VALVE.

SHORT TO BATTERY ON FRONT LEFT OUTLET VALVE.

SHORT TO BATTERY ON REAR RIGHT INLET VALVE.

SHORT TO BATTERY ON REAR RIGHT OUTLET VALVE.

SHORT TO BATTERY ON REAR LEFT INLET VALVE.

SHORT TO BATTERY ON REAR LEFT OUTLET VALVE

Yea,dodgy scanner !! Actually you should have some chance with that kit. Will any of the faults clear ? Have you done any continuity tests on the modulator block connections ? ECU faults are rare on pre 99 P38's,but the odd modulator block will give up.

Thanks Mr. 8. I've just pm'd you for advice ! (on recommendation named in pm !) : I'll re-run tomorrow as per your & Irish's advice & post a reply on the thread. I'm replacing wing and bonnet. It had had a dunt ( not by me) just in line with the earth point for the ABS booster and I just wondered if it might have disturbed a connection.:scratching_chin:

Thanks Irish. I'll re-run it in the morning and post.:praise:

Re-ran this morning and faults not repeated. faults memory clear ( but ABS light & Brake light staying on : went out once but I can only run it in short bursts across the yard : it's officially off road and uninsured until I'm finished putting it back together,) Thanks for your help.
Probably something daft I did myself.

The car has to be driven for about 100yards non stop for the system to self check...this is normal on the P38...and the lights should go out.
TIP. Run the engine for a couple of minutes before moving off to give the system time to pressurise, especially if it has been stood for a good length of time.
Excellent chance that all is well from what you have just posted.

Try waiting for the ABS pump to stop running before you start the engine, then with all 4 wheels jacked safetly off the ground stick it in drive and spin the wheels. As soon as all the wheels have got past 7kmh if their sensors are giving a good output the ABS lamp will go out.(That and everything else being ok.) The brake warning lamp could be low fluid ? If the ABS lamp wont go out then there should be a new fault logged - that will be the real cause of the lamp being on,early Wabco ABS faults are accurate - you just need to make sure they are current and not old ones that have not been cleared.

Thanks Mr.8.
Clever that, jacking all four wheels up and running it. I'm capable of cocking that up big time !.....like the back wall of the garage !
I'd done a quick check on the fluid level and it seemed fine but I'll double check.
No ABS faults came up but the light stayed on and brakes were good.
