 Hi as my previous thread, I need some more help. The lights came on on the dash board the TC, HD and Handbrake lights and the speedo stopped working. We changed the sensor the problem came back. We put it on the computer and it said that we needed a ABS ECU unit, I have been told that this is nearly £1000 to fix. Does anyone know where I can get one cheaper then this, I've only had the car 10 weeks I love the car but am beginning to wish I hadnt bought it. Please help ........

Hi many thanks for your prompt reply I have sent an email to this place to see if this part is suitable as mine is a 51 plate and the part is for 2000, hopefully it will be ok, do you know if this part is easy to change?????

it will be different 2001 model year onwards the ecu is attached to the modulator where as early model ecu were under drivers seat

I had my ABS ECU replaced, it cost around £700 inc fitting, but I have a '98 Xedi............didn't fixed the fault with the ABS, HDC and TC lights coming on, although they don't come on as much now. :)

The diagnostics computer said the fault with mine was the 'Shuttle Valve'?? But LR told my garage to replace the ECU cos they sometimes throw up that fault for nothing.............which is nice :)

Seen a few like this, you can monitor shuttle valve states as live data on Testbook,to see if they are working properly. In all but one case it was down to the battery voltage dipping on a cold morning during start up.
Check the battery condition and charging before you put an ECU on it.

I had a new battery 6 months before the ECU was replaced. The warning lights come on intermitantly...........can go for weeks without seeing them then sometimes the come on daily..........I just ignore em now.

So have you had the codes read since fittting the Ecu ? Normally the shuttle valve issue will make the lights stay on all the time.

Hi,
I wonder if you can give me some advise. I have a Freelander td4 2002 Es and recently the TC ABS and HDC lights on the dash came on. I took it to an indie LR dealer and he carried out a testbook diagnosis and found the rear left ABS sensor faulty. I'm expected to get it changed this week. Today I had the front pads changed and on the way home the speedo stopped and the handbrake light stayed on. I pulled over and switched the engine off and the speedo began and the brake light went off but the TC ABS and HDC lights stayed on. Can you give me a checklist before I go spending hundreds. Sorry to be a pain and drag tihs thread out but there seems to be so many various potential problems that can cause it.
Thanks

I would of thought yer TC ABS would still show up a fault if you aint changed the faulty sensor, so till its changed i would say its doin wot its supposed to.
dunno bout the speedo and HB light .but once you get the sensor changed and the faults cleared you may find it wont happen.

food for thought and once I get the sensor channged I'll go from there. Beginning to think I bought a friday afternoon car but then I've seen a few threads on the td4 2002 with problems and beginning to wonder if I got a duff car!!!

Thanks for your help, I purchased a ABS ECU unit from a reclaimers, yard, then when it arrived it was the wrong part aaahhhhhhh!!! but today I have gone to another reclaims yard in Birmingham and he got the correct part so hopefully by end of play tomorrow I might have resolved this problem and will await another problem..............

Superb - I got my sensor off ebay and fitted it with no problems all sorted and no christmas tree lights!! Happy as pigs in ****!!!

Guinness,

I got the rave for Land Rover off ebay and it was real easy to follow. Once you get the working sensor (don't buy a new one if you can help it - got mine off ebay at £25 a pair.). You should be able to do it without taking the wheel off but its better to ramp it and take it off. I can explain over this forum but it might be better to get hold of the rave. I can copy the page for you if that helps?
