A little information if you can please

I hope that no one minds me asking the question and im sure that I will be berated for not searching but I have searched v8 disco auto economy and it came back with nil results maybe I was a little to specific.

We have a 200 tdi manual that I brought for the wife but I have gotten the bug big time and I want to have fun with it and play off road but she wont let me do anything to it at all.
Coupled with the fact that she finds the disco to heavy to drive as a manual normal notchy gearbox etc.
I suggest that we buy her an auto leaving me free to play with the current disco then I don't have to worry about it fitting in multi story car parks and the like.

Our other car is a Subaru Impreza Turbo so fuel economy isn't a big concern as she only does about 4k per annum but she is insisting on a tdi auto.

Could one of you fine people on here who actually run a V8 disco auto give me an idea of its real economy rather than what it says in the handbook.

I have suggested to her that it is about 10 mpg less than the tdi is this correct


WE used to have a RRC V8 auto 3.9 is it similar to that

Thanks for that she drives nice and easy esp when the kids are in the car so about 10 less than the tdi then not too bad cause the fuel is cheaper and the V8 is a lot cheaper to buy the the derv i suppose if it got to bad i could shell out for lpg or just do a tdi conversion

15-20 mpg depending on the journey, I can get 20mpg on a run doing 60ish, that's a D2.
