A-Frame Ball Joint renewal

Ive got the assembly off the Landrover, and after about half an hour of intense abuse i got the old ball joint out of the fraim. But now i cant get the new one in, not even when i used the hi-lift as a clamp to press it in.

I know its supposed to be tight, anyone else here had to change one of these, how did u get the new one in?

I de-burred the bracket a bit, with a half-round file, then applied some copper-slip.
I could then (just) get the new joint to go in with the aid of a big vice and lots of heaving and swearing.

Im going to take it to an engerneering company down the road tmorrow. I dont realy want to bore it out anymore because i know it needs to be pressed in properly, thats how it works. I dont have a vice eather, so id just end up hitting it with a big hammer again.

Woods have you sorted your diff yet?

Make no mistake, the non-mechanical bits are falling appart aswell.

Its mostly due to neglect from previous owners (20 years of maintinance to catch up with), and general off road abuse from its current owner.
