Hi All,

Right please dont slate me for some of the questions, im just learning as i go.

1) What exactly should the digital read out show on the speedo? The little adjuster on the left of the read out doesn't seem to do anything?

2) What is the tyre pressure meant tobe in Bar? It was set at 2bar but it seems too low.

3) Im not saying i would but has anyone chipped their TD4 engine? I know theres around a 30% perfomance increase to Turbo engines...

4) There still is a fair bit of roll when cornering, is Changing the Suspension classed as a no no?

Ps 3 & 4 points would not even be considered untill the warrenty was finished.

Thanks PaulN

Ps Car looks stunning, defo not the farmer Giles look.

My V6 Hippo runs tyres at about 2 bar (30psi).
The Freelander will roll on corners, it's not designed for fast cornering all though mine does grip quite well as long as I don't ease the power off.
The digital readout will read total miles and trip miles if it's like my 2000 model Hippo. After starting the engine it should display total miles. Push the button and it swaps to trip miles. Hold the button in for a few secs and it resets the trip mile counter.

Yep I second that! and yer dont have to wait till yer warranty runs out cos its a simple plugin/out job so yer can take it off when its in for a service something you carnt do if you go the CHIP route
Av a shuft at his web site. 45zs.info then go to the td4 bit
Cheers

left hand button next to the odometer??? I havent a clue, I keep forgetting to ask when I go into the dealers

tyres - 2 bar sounds about right but double check in your manual if you are unsure - it may be different on a Sport

as others on here will testify - Roverrons box will probably be the best bet for a warrantyed motor - pops on and off in ten mins - I see that you are based in the Mids if you wanna try before you buy then I am in Stourbridge and would be happy to let you try mine on yours for a test drive if you want. To be fair, most dealers I have spoken to aren't really bothered about Rons box from a warranty point of view, that said, I think if they were pushed into a corner and looking for a reason not to justify a warranty claim then its probably best not to mention the box

body-roll from a Sport??? hmmmm the Sport has stifffened & lowered suspension and sits lower than the rest of the marques - are you sure you mean body roll or are you talking about the way it bounces over potholes?? Handling-wise, surpisingly the Freelander will outhandle most cars at lower speeds on islands etc. they have a tendency to be unforgiving if you ease off as Mark says - I find the rack a bit on the slow side as well, i guess that is part of its off road heritage though

Cheers

specified pressure is 30 psi all round, all models,

4) There still is a fair bit of roll when cornering, is Changing the Suspension classed as a no no?
it is an off road car not a 3 series beemer :)

also not sure what the left hand button does, cant be anything important as we would all know, i wouldnt worry about it

Re the left hand button, I think, but if I think wrong don't get after me to have my hide, that it is for the US versions to allow to dim the dashboard light, guess it's a turning button not a pushbutton ?

I have just got a new TD4 Adventurer as noted on the Sport thread, to answer your queries:

1. Button, as clueless as you??
2.Tyre pressure at 30psi do look a little low but assume this is correct
3. I got a Roverron box last week and fitted it on Friday, the difference is not incredible but significant (setting 5). Plugs in easily and can be unplugged at service time. Just checking fuel consumption at the mo but appears the same, car feels lighter, more responsive and how the TD4 should have always been. Little bit more clatter but well worth the money, Ron's very helpful also and even say's he would buy back the box if you change the vehicle! I told the insurance also and was charged £11 admin and £18 for upgrade, so would definately do this after hearing some horror stories.
4. Handling is stodgy but think that is all to do with the chassis and dynamics, don't forget the car is nearly a 9 year old design. It all depends how you drive and what you expect of your 4x4

Seen the pictures and I really want those sport wheels, think they set the Freelander off.

Hi outlander
i`ve been working all week just down from the badgers set (over the round from the TOLL HOUSE stores on the halesowen bypass)i used to live in halesowen but moved to rowley regis a couple of years ago but i`m always around stourbrige and halesowen with work, look out for a silver freelander commercial as theres not many around here, mines a real nice one with side steps and every extra there was available went i purchased it :)

allo!

silver commercial eh? has it got roofbars on by any chance? If I think I seen you around a few times - I do like the commercials (looking at purchasing half a dozen of them for work at the moment as it happens - the price is right its just the mpg that I am having a problem with)

mines a black two door, private plate with HUB in it and a rag top at the moment -wheelcover says supplied by Hunters of Guildford, usually around Stourbridge but I work the South West from an office in Worcester so all over the place really

cheers!
