I recently bought an 02 3 door TD4. After about a month the starter motor went, so that was replaced. I then went on a trip to Grimsby from Coventry. The car ran like a dream, there and back.

I got in the car the next morning and it wouldn't start, it just turned over, after about 4 attempts it jumped into life and I have had no trouble starting it since. Now that the weather is colder I get a slight misfire for the first few seconds, but I have never owned a diesel that has not misfired slightly from cold.

The wife recently went to work in the car and when she came out to go home the new starter just clicked. I went to her aid and put some jump leads on just in case, it clicked about 4 times. then engaged and started, and has started fine since, hopefully just a bit of crap on the contacts from the reconditioning.

I also have the click from the rear suspension, which I presume is the subframe fault. Does anyone know in layman's terms, where to open open up the floor and where to weld, I have a welder friend who said he will do it if I get the instructions in easy terms. Anyone done the job themselves.

Next question is, when I turn my heater switch from cold to hot with no air con on, as I pass half way the engine revs increase........any reason for this.

Any help is much appreciated.

this might ansur one question........:) .......

My L series occationally just clicks on start. I know its gonna be different on the TD4 but in my case the solenoid contacts are blasted to hell. I've had them out twice now for a clean up but sooner or later they're gonna give up completely. This could be the problem in your case also.
