1.buy a chamois

on a night like last night,cold but misty,the windows in our freelanders
are acting/doing the same job as a dehumidifier.

just keep your windows dry for a few mornings and evening/nights.

keep the ouside of windows dry too,dampness seeps through the door seals.

i bought the chamois in lidl just to keep the winscreen clear,but tonight my missis cleaned out the inside,she could only have been at it for a few minutes.it would have taken me another few weex.

KEEP THE MOISTURE OFF THE INSIDE

this is an experiment that started last night.

This may not help at all but.....
If you park your freelander on a drive like I do, point it towards the house. The heat radiated from the house keeps the car slightly warmer at the front, all condensation then goes to the back of the car and steams the rear window up, then switch the rear heater on...problem solved. I know this won't help everyone, but it works a treat. Been doing it for years and it never suffers from condensation on the front screen.:)
If you park it on the street put cardboard on the windscreen if you can, this will also keep the front warmer, if some little sod does'nt nick it!

sheerly if you turn your central heating up a bit 20 minutes before you are due to leave to drive the vehicle you'd also be able to avoid the condensation in the rear as well ?
 
as i typed in another thread a few minutes ago,with the chamois you could remove up
to a ltre a week,that will otherwise get warmed up if you use yer heater,and fall as
microscobic beads and settle into any fabrics strewn around the interior.......:5bbeatdeadhorse5:
 
and then it re-condenses back on the windows(the same way a dehumidifier works), just think of the amount of damp your boots trail in not to mention coats,wet dogs,
perspiration and exhalation,it all ads up.

your windows are built in dehumidifier,just soak up the damp.It's really starting to
make a big difference,and I only started a night or 2 ago.

shirly you were kidding when you suggested leaving the vehicle close to the house will help keep the condensation away due to the radiated heat ?

Well...
We have had our freelander for 5ish years and if you park it facing away from the house it condensates, if you park it towards the house it don't. Now I'm not a rocket scientist (thick as sh*t actualy:D) but even I know what works! The house is bloody old and is solid walls so no cavaty wall insulation so maybe this helps as we loose quite alot of heat out of the walls. As I said, my advice may not be of use for most, but it works for me.
As for the Daewoo Matiz thats parked on the front, thats like a fish tank in the mornings, quality korean car that thing:D:D
 
Air contains moisture. Warmer air holds more moisture than cold air. It will condensate as soon as the air cools below its due-point. So warm air will condensate at a higher temp than cold air.

The air close to the coldest window will condensate (on the window) first. Any window covered by cardboard, plastic, carport roof or close to a house will cool less than others. That's why condensation starts on other windows (first)

But with dryer air in your car, condensation will be at a much lower temp. So when the night is not that cold and the night temp doesn't reach the due-point, there will be no condensation.

All factors matter.

(As you prop. know Wolfman) The suggested de-humidifier worked good in mine. See thread :crazy_driver:
