Hi have a disco 2 1999 with TD5 engine, when i purchased the car the A/C did not work , it was January in UK so hard to tell when i test drove it.
It also has the following faults:-
No interior lights at all, all fuses are ok.
Downhill decent control does not seem to work
No aircon.
Although there probably is no connection i thought i would mention it as i have concluded the mfu must be faulty for the interior lights.

Have checked fuses and relay and all ok on the A/c the clutch does not switch on but i have noticed a small what could be a crack on the output where the alloy pipe has been worn by rubbing, the real question before i waste money on recharging it is is there a sensor to know the system has lost its charge and switches it all off?
Also it is an easy access to the pipe, has anyone ever tried soldering these tubes?

Regards

Standard A/C will have a dual pressure switch any lack of "gas" the switch won't operate so the A/C compressor etc won't function.
If the pipes are as u say alloy then u can't use solder, if steel then it's brazing.

If your A/C is climate controled then there's lots of other sensors and servos that can also be faulty.

Bottom line is get an A/C person to look at it. :D

OK this might be taken as a dumb question, but have you checked the interior light bulbs? You never mentioned it....

Does the ABS work? If not then the HDC won't either, nor traction control.

Diff.

re the interior light. behind a panel in the passenger footwell is a large electrical plug. from memory i think its the lower one. the pin for the white/purple wire can corode due to water ingress. i bypassed the pin and now have an interior light.
