Hi.
Ive read a few threads on oil and it seems putting the wrong type of oil in the wrong place is baaaaad.

it also seem that the right type of oil made by the wrong peopl or with the wrong numbers isn't so good either.

So far i have only done the oil in one Diff (when i changed it last week) and i Put EP90 in it?

I also want to change the oil in the other diff, gearbox, engine & tranfer box..

is EP 90 ok in all the above except the engine?

and 20W50 in the engine?

is mineral oil any better or worse considering this thing burns the stuff.

are there additives for the engine oil that might reduce my smoking? (the landy that is, not my own personal smoking habit).

thanks in advance once again....

One day i might even be able to answer some questions :)

the main problems seem to be between gl4 and gl5 you may have put ep90 in but which was it??
gl5 has additives in which eat brass and quite a few of the bearings contain this in the gaer box and transfer case.. as well as some axle bearings..

just use fleet disel mineral oil from local motor factor ie unipart ,dont add anything bores rings will be worn apart from engine age they allways where but will run around the world like it

Great!
Not sure which i put in the front diff. I just had enough and chucked the bottle..
don't think there are any brass bit in there though.

So i need to get fleet disel mineral oil for the engine & EP90 GL4 for the diff & boxes.

any idea on how much i need? My mate said 25 litre of ep90 then said 15 litre.. bit of a wild guess i think.
also the qty required for the engine(1972 2.25 diesel).
man thanks in advance

10 litres should do it for both engine (6.8 litre)and gear box diffs ,swivel housings iwould get 25 litres or 20 litres of each from trade motor factor

wynnes stop smoke helps a bit... Im now down to burning a litre of oil every couple of hours of running :D

Halfrauds 'classic green motor oil' (20W50) is pretty good. As longs as its reasonably thick mineral oil nothing bad will happen, the modern super thin synthetic stuff is the only real killer.

If it's burning oil that bad . Then get a new motor that's sad burn oil like that. Gives the impression to the public that lr are pieces of oil burn scrap.
