99 tailgate window

Hi.
My 1999 Freelander Tailgate Window is working in reverse.
When you press open it shuts & press shut & it opens.
And the glass dosen`t drop when you open the tailgate.
Plus the rear wiper & demister don`t work.And when i lock
The Freelander it beeps once,meaning somethings wrong.
All iv`e renewed is the cables,the motor is the original one.
Any ideas?.

Pull switch out of center console. Turn switch upside down and push back into center console upside down. Ignore picture on switch from now on :p

Ah. My replacement regulator did that and I had to turn the motor gearbox over in the door

Meaning the cables had to be a bit rerouted too.
 
rather than relocate a buttload of parts.... why not just cut the two power wires, and swap them over?


Seems the simpler version :lol:

Depends on your skill set.

In my case the door was apart , the tie wraps were there as were the wire cutters, but the soldering iron was a long way away as was the heat shrink
 
I was led to believe if the tailgate window was not right the safety feature stops the rear wiper and demister and 2 stage door lever working.

Nope. If the car thinks the window is open, nothing works!

What you have to do is get the switch working properly, then push the window all the way up on the switch and hold ten seconds, then all the way down, and hold ten seconds. That seems to reset the software.

Then everything springs to life

I done what you did (turn the motor gearbox over in the door) and it works perfectly.
