Does anyone know how to overcome the engine disabled problem when you do not have the EKA code?

Been there, its more likely the RF receiver and battery drain issue causing the initial problem. But once its locked out and disabled its a flat truck back to a dealer or independent LR garage.

No your talking about the EKA codes as well, ie turn left x many times, turn right x many times, turn left x many times again, turn right x many times.

If you don't know it, guess what? its flat truck time! Besides this sounds exactly like what happened to my RR.

It was all to do with the battery drain issue and the defective RF receiver.

Main LR dealer in N. Wales gave me my EKA code without problems or cost. It's listed on the computers with VIN no. and/or registration no. I don't even use them for service. I think most will give it to you.

Like rrdriver said, it costs nothing to get the EKA. I needed mine a couple of years ago and all I did was call a LR dealer near to my UK home town gave them the VIN and Reg details and they gave it to me there and then. By the way, this was for a Portuguese registered P38 and I called from Portugal:D

Hope it sorts it out.

That's not very secure! OK you were in another country, but I thought perhaps a local UK or Portuguese LR dealer would have to verify that before giving out a very security conscience code that opens a car and disables the security system and allows the engine to start.

When i bought my car i went straight to the dealers for the EKA code and i got my dad to do the same when he had his, they didn`t charge but did need the log book and another form of id before giving us the code. Then they also gave my dad a complete printed rundown of his car. Turns out it was bought in germany december 01 and registered in uk january 02.

Old thread i know, but hey guys/girls.
I have a M plate P.38 1995 and had the dredded "EKA" code problem.
I have the correct code, after reading many forums on how to enter the code correct, i found all of them to be wrong for my model. (4.6 HSE V8)

Well, ile tell you all how i did mine.
lets say my code was 2 4 6 8 ok.
Your actual code now becomes "1 2 4 6 8 1"

Take your time entering the code, there is no rush at all, just make sure that you enter it correct.
Ok, lets go.
First, enter the first postion being number 1, enter this by locking the rangie ( to the left ) none of this four times stuff, it is not needed.
Then enter the second number. being no 2.
so two turns to the right.
Enter the next to the left, so 4, left 4 times.
Enter the next to the right, so 6, right six times
Enter the next to the left, so 8, left eight times.
Enter the final number 1 that will activate your C/L and open all doors to the right & disable the alarm system, you are now in.
So, ile break it down.

The code is 1,2,4,6,8,1 we enter it like this.

L1, R2, L4, R6, L8, R1

Just take your time and you will access your Rangie, it's not a race.
My my model locked me out for 30mins a go untill i sussed it out. Hope this helps you all out having EKA problems.

P.S. Mine is a UK regged model

The early models (until sometime in 96 I think) did not have the initial four turns.
The EKA code is still only four digits .It presumes you are starting with a locked vehicle therefore the first digit is to the right to unlock the vehicle the appropiate number of times and so on.As the last turn of the fourth digit is to lock the vehicle, you obviously have to turn it unlock the vehicle after entering the the fourth digit.
The original owners handbook with the vehicle clearly states the correct method for the vehicle you have.;)

i called landrover uk
gave them my vin number and a couple of extra details
they gave me the code.
left right etc etc
drove it to huddersfield landrover centre and they disabled the imobaliser via laptop for 30 quid.

As you turn the key you're activating microswitches on the lock mechanism. Sounds like you'd better take a trip inside your door and find out why one microswitch isn't operating.
