Took gearbox out of 90 and tried to select low and it wont go in all the way.

Had this trouble when it was in the 90, it would go in just about but pop out after a few yards, I thought this was due to a worn linkage but cant seem to get it to engage low properly even tapped it with a hammer and socket bar.

It engages but pops out again, is it worth taking the cover off or shall I bin it, seems a shame as its a 1.4. :)

In picture its just engaged so not bottoming out on the casing:confused:

Thanks James, I'll take top cover off and hopefully it will be a simple fix, could do with selling it to finance new engine mounts, cambelt etc .

cam belt is cheap enough £10 as are engine rubber mounts
Yes, got cambelt as my son supplies them to the trade (L.E.C Ltd) ordering two new mounts tonight but cheap is still a struggle sometimes on a pension, few quid for gearboxes would come in very handy.

Don't like selling stuff unless its in good order so its fix it or scrap it I'm afraid:)
