right lads,

ive sourced some 88" van sides to convert my 110 Double cab (originally a CSW) to a utility body. but before buying them, can anyone show me some images of 88" van sides on their utility?

the issues i foresee are:

do the mounting points match up with the cappings on the 110? ive heard people mention grinding off some bits of the van sides??

Ive heard that the series door seals are riveted on, so what is required to alter this for newer type door seals??

Im not afraid of altering the parts at all, i just want to know what is required before jumping in at the deep end!

thanks lads.

Series door seals were riveted on, but they were riveted to a channel which is suitable for push on seals. I have push on seals on my series 2!

Sorry, no pics of van sides though.
Good luck!

look at the new utilty double cab, same side as you need and no messing about direct bolt on

just what im looking for bluehaze where did you get the window blanks from?

Got them from a guy who was dealing with commercial vehicles on fleabay. I drove up to Birmingham (before I moved here) to pick them up - just can't remember exactly where!!!!!!!!!!

Right lads, as promised, a look at the work so far... it is far from finished so please resist the urge to slate it :D

heres the roof swap anyway:

This is how the bulkhead currently looks, im in two minds about putting a window into it, but it will most likely happen :)

eventually there will be a drawer on top of the wheel arch, not full length, but as far as the fuel filler surround. And from there back ill probably put in a small sink.

Full length drawer at this side, will hold the back section of the bed frame, a tent, etc etc :)

Small, but usable cooking area, will eventually get around to covering that flat surface with aluminium/stainless steel...

Back of the bed in place

Seats down to alllow the bulkhead to hinge down

Bulkhead down, the bungee was literally all i had to hand to support the front of the bed, but i will eventually replace with something like the clip buckles you would see on a lifejacket.

S/S tie down rings used on the roof (need to bolt these rather than screw em in, was in a rush to get them done at the time )

Would show ye what the air bed look like in place but i managed to burst it!!!

I still have a lot of work to do, all the wood needs to be painted (some of it im going to cover in headlining), have to paint the interior panels so they all match and look nice, ive ordered a heap of headlining material to re-do the roof, im going to tint the back windows also, so the tint is ordered for that too, and i have a lot of sanding and filling and painting to do on the outside!! going to be a busy few weeks :p

Heres a look at the progress since, its about 80% done now, still have to make up drawers in the back, put an externally accessible hatch on the passenger side (for tools, winch equip etc.) and put the side window (which will be removed to make way for the hatch) into the bulkhead :)

what ye think so far?

Looks great, if next year's weather is anything like this one then I am sure you'll make good use of it.
I am gathering bits for a project at the moment, in the off chance that you are letting the old double cab roof go , I would be interested, I live in Co Louth.
And again, nice job !

Thanks for the comments lads!!
Im pretty happy with the setup so far, cant wait to have it all finished and take it out for a trip!

Hey joey, whats the project? CSW to DC?

im not sure what i am doing with the double cab roof at the moment but as it stands, there seem to be a few interested on the irish forum but it is far from a perfect roof, it needs a bit of tlc to be properly weatherproof. Ill PM you a link to the irish forum in case you havent seen it yet!

I have a 1989 90 striped down with the chassis repaired and awaiting galvanising (havent toutched it all summer !)

So basically I am a tyre kicker at the moment !!!

I also recently picked up a 4 door CSW tub with rear doors that i spied on donedeal, so that project will be to build up something based probably on a 1984 110. Am hoping to put together a crew cab that would qualify for vintage tax and insurance.

I hang out a bit on the clri.net forum, but I will have a look at the 4x one now. Saw your PM, thanks anyway.
