8 or 9 stud water pump

Hi evreyone
the bearing on my water pump is on its way out so i thought id get a hole new pump as its only a couple of quid more than the repair kit, but theres a 8 stud or a 9 stud, is this the number of bolts where the pump fixes to the block or is it studs between the two that you cant see unless you take it apart, besides even if it is the bolts i cant see em very well, its a series 3 1980 the engine number is 29291144j and i think its a millitery engine as its a light green coulor (12 volt) if anyone can shine some light on the part number or how to change the pump i would be most greatful.

IIRC Count the bolts that you see.

A good LR parts man should be able to get you the right one by using the engine number.

i have a 1982 series 3 swb with a 5 bearing crank 2286cc that is fitted with a 9 stud pump.if you give me your mobil no/ in a private email i will take a pic of it and send cus i aint fitted it yet. regards jim

9 stud are civvy, 8 stud military, so you still have a problem.
How do put oil in? If there is a tube going into the engine side plate it should be 9 stud. If it goes in a tube that goes into the front housing, it's military and 8 stud. If it goes into a cap on the rocker box it should be 9 stud.
