I think that would work. But I would place a heat-shield between the exhaust and the compressor. A simple
piece of metal plate will do.

I decided to respray my wheels again, decided to go Lime stone ( i did try gloss black but didn't love it) I have paint on order! - in the mean time i have been busy prepping my spare:

I removed and cleaned up / sprayed my spot lamp, ( it was covered in red and dark green over spray)

i continued to battle the random colour spray paint which can be found in quite a few places! the foot well being one of them, this time in an attempt to clean up a bit of surface rust...

Some good progress, great work :) Very tidy.

I would leave the hinge black - I think it could look odd having the black arm "floating" there.

Very nice work. Really like this one. I would make the hinge the same as the car. Are those one piece defender door seals?

Hello!

I thought i would start a thread to detail my little project...

I recently bought a SWB S3 which i plan to clean up and make a few tweaks!

This is what she looked like when i bought her:

It was owned for over 30 years by one guy and was then passed on to his mechanic in his Will when he passed, I'm told it was one of many cars in his collection and was used as his work horse on his farm,

First things first.... the bale twine in the dash....

After some investigation it turns out that some rodent has decided to make my dash a home!

so after digging out 2kgs of muck, dust, leaves, cardboard and .22 Rounds !? i went on a hunt for damage caused.... luckily there was only 3 wires that had been chewed down to the copper, so i cut and repaired these to prevent any shorts in the future,

Bottom of the dash after the clear out

my findings;

The nibbling:

Next up... to tackle the dull paint work...

Door locks (one was faulty and wouldn't lock/latch)

Do you think i should colour match the door hinge / mirror arm? or leave them black??

Leave them black, too much camaflage might cause some confusion:( that is going to be a great car. Love what you are doing and looking forward to seeing some more images when you're done and out on the road.

Well spotted, yes they are one piece seals, much better fit than the old sections overlapping, I've not tested them out yet but will let you know if it improves the leaks!

So as much as a love the purr of the 2.25 4 cylinder beast,

I have decided to make use of the second battery and new centre seat tool tray...

The sound system installation begins...

Firstly i had to find the right gear for the job,

a 4 channel amp from JL and a Bluetooth module ticked the boxes, meaning i don't need a Head unit and don't have to bodge anything into / on to the dash, apart from a phone cradle,

Wiring progressing nicely,

holes drilled into the rear of the tray,

Cable glands installed to seal everything up, (also have insulated the tray underneath due to the proximity of the exhaust/ box etc...

just one more speaker wire to run in from the right rear and I'm ready to buy some speakers! - not sure which to get yet! I'm thinking either some Bose out door units or some marine tower cans (from a wake/ski boat) - that way i can roll up the canvas and not worry about the weather!

the plan was to not use the metal lid (as it doesn't work with the tool tray anyway) then possibly down the track ill look at making a plastic lid / cover to protect the gear,
