Hi All
At last i have purchased my dream series one, a loverly old thing she is too
My question is the glass is very Rattley one part glass and the other perspex is this standard?
They rattle like crazy can I buy new felt runners? would this help or does the perspex need to go aswell?
Any information would be great
Thanks

Are you talking about the rear window between the cab and tub? Originally they were both glass but spare panes became very rare so owners replaced them with perspex. I believe you can put new felt runners in to stop them rattling or just seal them up with silcone sealant or summat

Ive just re read your post title, so you are talking about the door top windows. Yes they should be glass and yes.you can buy felt runner strips to stop them rattling and slide.better but your door tops will need.to be.in fair condition or else when you dig the old runners out, there wont be much left.

There is a small thickness difference between glass & Perspex.this is what causes the rattles

yes the Perspex rattles but we do take the tops off & did not want the glass to beak.
I have 2 holes in the Perspex 1 to lock open & 1 to lock close
A small strip of draught excluder between the sliding window also helps

I have a 107” truck cab and I had new sliding glass cut for the doors and the rear window . I went to my local glazing company with templates and got them to have them done . I got them to put finger grooves in the door top sliders before they were toughened . They were not cheap but are much nicer than Perspex . They are slightly thicker than Perspex but with a bit of use become easier to slide . If you don’t get finger grooves put in you could glue a Perspex knob onto the glass .

The Series One Club used to sell glass windows , but haven't for some years . You can still buy Perspex windows plus runners from the club shop https://www.lrsoc.com/web/product/303841-original-style-sliding-door-window-1954-58/. If you haven’t already joined the club I would suggest you consider doing so as it is a great source of information and spare parts .

My local glass shop cut me laminated to replace the perspex sliding in my 101 door tops that someone had fitted 10€ each...
