Hello,
my V8 4,6 engine, built in 2000 is dead. Headgasket or porus block.
I like to buy an stripped engine from turner engineering.
Has someone the engine with the:

Option - gasflowed performance heads fitted

and:

Option - H180 'Sports Torque' camshaft fitted to either option*

I need some informations about this combination.
Turner say the engine has + 40 bhp!
Or is an normal stripped engine the right way?

Regards

The Cooling system on the P38 Petrols is margainal to cope with standard spec....

If you uprate - uprate the cooling system too or else you will encounter more problems with gaskets and melted bits!!

If that is too much work, stick with standard and refurb the cooling system to cope.

v8 blocks are prone to cracking its a weakness (some more than others )top hat linered block if done right should be okay id look to see cooling system was operating perfectly poor component like rad or thermostat or low level etc are often cause of fault ,in that you dont notice system is getting less efficient tlll it overheats ,id have thought system in good order was fine ,but who ever checks

I agree, as V8's are prone to cracking or slipped liners it makes cooling system to be very important. Once cooling is neglected it leads to engine problem.

Me personally, I want to find appropriate level of attention towards cooling to guarantee long life of V8 motor. Looks like cooling has to be perfect all the time and still a bit of luck needed.
