4.6 LPG - 200miles on £40? Sound right?

As mentioned earlier, I have a 4.6 GEMS with a multipoint system made by BiGas.

On a run I get 250 miles to about 70 litres of LPG. Less around town.

I think it is about the same as running a Mondeo or something like that.

LPG near me is 71p/litre.
 
My tank only takes around 40 or so lts. And it's 73.9ppl here in Dover! And I get about 120 miles around town and about 140 ish on a run. But it's a single point system. 4.6 gems engine. 122k and all fine!
 
lpg on a v8 doesnt make it cost like a normal car, makes it around same as a deseil one , if not a little bit more. All these adds i have seen claiming tht sort of mileage must be imagining half those miles, on mine i get about 160miles to £50, but mines not running very well atm, hole in exhaust and some thing wrong with valves on one cylinder, when thats sorted not expecting much more than 180/190 on £50 but that is driving locally ohh and my brakes are binding lol

Bit cheaper than Diesel in my eyes...

My Diesel Returned at 26p per mile - the LPG is returning 22p per mile....

Doesnt make it as cheap as a Modeo as you say, but is comparable with the diesel variant of the same make/model
 
Mine's a 4.0 thor with 80 litre tank & multipoint injection does around 190 miles at 67p a litre (Asda Derby) never been able to get more than 72 litres in tank though, calculates at 11.9 miles to the gallon which is giving you the equivalent of 24 MPG. similar to the diesel but more power and silky smooth.

Tanks can only be filled to about 80% capacity for safety reasons!!

Surprised you can get about 90% in...but then again stranger things have happened!
 
For what it's worth I get between 420 and a bit over 500 miles on a tank of diesel which costs the equivalent of £84 over here, that's around 18 pence per mile average.:D There is no contest over here, diesel is so much cheaper.:D:D

Always wondered why I could only get around 70-75 litres in mine, when the certificate says 90litres. Just assumed they'd put the wrong size down on the certificate:).

Seems strange though, surely the tanks are tested at capacity. Any idea why this is?

I believe it is because LPG has the potential to expand and contract, if you filled to 100% and it expands due to heat or other factors the pressure relief valve would open emptying LPG into the car. It's the same with propane tanks I think.

LPG is stored in liquid form under pressure and it needs space to vapourise as the pressure tries to reduce when gas is drawn off, remember also a liquid cannot be compressed so the space is needed to maintain pressure which occurs due to a portion of the liquid vapourising as the the gas is used. Thus the pressure in the tank remains pretty constant as the LPG is used until there is no liquid LPG left to vaporise. Normally the vapour space is around 20% of capacity. Google it, I have just done an LPG installation for my new cooker and had to check pipe sizes etc which is where this info appeared
 
i have a 4.6 thor on lpg and i can drive to the top of the lake district and back on one tank of lpg its a 90 litre tank but holds 72 litres at 65p litre usually bout 44 pounds to fill, can get it to 22mpg on the trip computer but normally 18 - 19 mpg. so yes it is vey possible to get wot the seller claims
