4.6 engine replacement

after getting done at my local auction ive got a engine to replace next weekend on my p38 4.6 . Im gutted but got to do it as i want to keep it. Any advice,, tips how tos, etc would be great ive done engine swapsbefore just not on a rangey

You need to undo the 4 Torque convertor bolts, they are a pain to get at>

According to RAVE through the starter motor hole is best

Dont do what i did and take off the ring gear as well ( 10 bolts) skinned knucles> Winner:doh:

you can get at the bolts from the engine side if you take that semicircle cover off. well thats how i do it anyway!!!

Do you have a specially modified spanner..??

Cos the 4 torque convertor bolts were def not accesable from the bell housing plate. The 10 ring gear ones were..!!

Undid them in error:doh:

Had to take the sump off mine as the bolts were that tight i needed to put impact socket and a huge bar to get them undone

Rubber bung at back of sump piece of cake there are 2 u can't get to them thru one of them

it is tight but i use uncles garage, he has just about every size and dimension of socket, you have to line em up to the sides of the sump kinda like an X as you look at em
