I've just ordered a replacement radiator top hose for my 4.4 V8. Some people have said the viscous fan needs to be removed to change the hose as a part of it runs down the bottom of the rad.

Is this true or is it possible to replace the hose without removing the fan ?

It does run from the top of the rad on the right hand side as standing in front of car, down to the top of the pump, it then has a branch to a tee piece with one side of the tee leading to the alternator, the other side to the gearbox oil cooler....

Fan removal is needed to get to the Alternator connection, unless you have Olive Oil like arms!!

Oh don't say that, the fan is a nightmare to remove isn't it ??

Just to let you all know that I managed to replace the hose yesterday without removing the fan. It's a bit tricky to get at the hose on the alternator but it wasn't too hard to do. I had to remove the undertray to get to the lower hose connection.

The hardest part of it all was bleeding the air out but it's all sorted now.
