Spending some time here on this board I`m really confused about the prices for Land Rovers in GB.

Bought mine for 7000 Euro (6266 GBP) from a Dealer, was the cheapest Disco TD5 around.

Got a MJ 1999 with nearly 200000 km and a blown HG (which he renewed)

Landies are pretty cheap compared with Jap cars of that size but they are even cheaper in GB.

is that true?

:eek:f***cking snow, that might be a reason. didn`t think of that. snow is normal here in winter.

I live in France and go to England 2 - 3 times a year to buy Discos as they have been much cheaper than in France. Currently however the Uk prices are completely daft and likely to stay that way for at least 2 months until people have forgotten about the snow and start having expensive repair bills with their Discovery's.

2 weeks ago I bought a 1999 TD5 auto with 200,000kms on the clock for 2200 euros, which was declared available on an LR forum so I immediately pounced on it.

Bear in mind that in addition to the purchase price in the uk (obviously subject to currency fluctuations) you will have the costs of getting it back to Austria, plus a set of LHD headlights, a certificat de Conformité from LR Austria (in France this is 180 euros) a TUV, and any other Austrian import procedures.

It is currently extremely difficult to find good value in the UK especially when you take into account all the other costs - but if you are patient it is still possible.

we swapped are 99 zafira elegance for are 1994 300 tdi lol but have to say the landy's are really holding their prices at the moment. Its silly really yes they are good but the price tag needs to come way back down

Can you find LHD in UK...............or you buy an RHD and convert it ?

Converting RHD to LHD is, imo, completely unrealistic financially and in many other ways as well.

What's the problem with driving RHD in an LHD country. We do it all the time. It's not like you are going to be overtaking or anything in an LR :D:D

You can find LHD in the UK but they tend to be at even more ridiculous prices. If you can imagine that.................................:D:D:D:D

LHD get lower prices in the UK because they cost more to insure. Some of the specialist dealers sell LHD Land Rovers, either ex-military or cancelled military orders, but these are usually Defenders. There are a lot about at the moment, including brand new with TDi engine (I was tempted).

The price BigLad got his for was the dealer's trade-in price. Might have got more for it if I'd bothered to advertise etc. Hope it's still going well Dave!

The car is going beautifully mate, she's had all new fluids and filters and just sails along.

I hope your new one is treating you well?

Cheers

Barely driven it yet, but going to put a few miles on over Easter. Very happy so far - it's all shiny!
