M25, M1 and the North Circular was full of L322's, I could not believe that there could be so many running all at the same time, must have been a record:rolleyes::D

haha, there still going strong !

less and less P38's ! and to see a classic is a real one off now a days !

quite a few p38's round my area though, sure a couple of them are members on here :)

Not sport, nothing BMW powered - any of the Jag v8's are a better bet. With the BMW versions, even if the engine keeps going the gearbox will die,I've diagnosed two this week already.
Ask a LR tech in a main dealer about warranty jobs - the 4.4BMW engine was a very common job.....

Thanks for all your views guys, I thought it was only the TD6 that was afflicted with the dreaded gearbox failures just like the x5 3.0d, so I will be buying very carefully. Pity about the 4.2 having soft valve seats, so would be a small fortune to LPG, but it still seems the engine of choice for me at the moment, plenty of time to look though as I will have to either sell or trade the x5 and not back in the uk till August. Suppose it would be silly to at least not test drive the 3.6 and see how it goes.

Funny how the RR gets under your skin, my P38 was the oldest car I ever had, got it as a workhorse and ended up using it all the time, no matter how good the x5 is I still look in the mirror and think idiot why did you sell it. Will test drive the S/C, 4.4 & 3.6 when I get home and make a decision, good thing is there are no shortages of any for sale.
