300tdi water pump change

Hi,
Is there any watch outs before changing the water pump on a 300tdi
looks fairly straight forward ,or does the alternator have to come followed by a pulley etc , got the pump from paddocks with the gasket supplied , will this gasket be ok or is there better one to get while the pump is off , while i am on thinking of flushing the radiator out does this have to come off or can i just stick ahose in the bottom , all this is part of the overheating problems i have ,all ready changed the thermo stat, but that didnt cure the problem ,pump change , radiator flush on monday and go from there

need to take off the water pump and PAS pump pulleys, best to take the fan off so you can get to the PAS better. if you dont get a good fit on the bolts they will round off-mine did!!

When you top up the coolant remove the plastic inspection cap & fill slowly...

and replace them with domestic radiator drain plugs.
